Viral Video: Meenakshi Lekhi Runs Away From Questions On Wrestlers' Protest

Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi's response to the protesting wrestlers has evoked strong criticism from the Opposition after a video of her briskly walking and running away from questions went viral.

The video of the Union minister running went viral with the Congress calling Lekhi's response a 'sharp reaction' in a dig.

In the 1.24 minutes video, Meenakshi Lekhi is seen walking briskly and then running away in a bid to dodge a question about the protesting wrestlers.

"What do you have to say on the protesting wrestlers?" the reporters asked Lekhi. To which she said a legal process is going on.

"Chalo, chalo, chalo," the minister said as she rushed towards her car.

"Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi gave a sharp reaction on the issue of women wrestlers. You see yourself," Congress tweeted along with the viral video.

Taking to Twitter, AAP wrote, 'Shameless minister' Meenakshi Lekhi ran away after hearing the question related to wrestlers.

Farmer leader Naresh Tikait on Tuesday stopped the protesting wrestlers from immersing their medals into the river Ganga in Haridwar.

Tikait has given five days time to the government to meet the demands of the grapplers who have been demanding the arrest of WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over sexual harassment allegations.

"Prime Minister calls them their daughters, but did not even once show his concern for the grapplers," said wrestlers in a statement. "Rather, he invited Brij Bhushan Singh to the inauguration of the new Parliament building. He even posed for photographs in bright white clothes. We have been stained by this brightness," the statement said.

"The President, who is a woman herself, sat barely two kilometres away and watched. She didn't say anything. We don't need these medals any more because this system does its own propaganda by hanging them around our necks and putting a mask on us," it said. "They then exploit us, and put us in jail if we protest," it added.

The wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshee Malikkh, and Bajrang Punia have been demanding the arrest of the Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over alleged sexual harassment of female athletes, including a minor.
