Meat sale ban on all eight days in Mira Bhayander: Mayor
Thane, Sept 10: The ban on sale of meat will be remain for all the eight days of fasting by the Jain community in Mira Bhayander township, adjoining Mumbai, its Mayor said on Wednesday night.
She said the Municipal Commissioner had recommended reduction of the ban period to two days which was rejected.

"The Commissioner has recommended a ban for two days, but we don't agree with it. Unless the state government directs us, there would be no change in the ban (for entire Paryushan)," Mayor Geeta Jain, who belongs to BJP, told PTI.
'Paryushan' is the period of fasting observed by the Jain community.
