Uttarakhand Police Recover MDMA Valued Over Rs 10 Crore Near India-Nepal Border
Uttarakhand Police apprehended a woman near the India-Nepal border in Champawat district's Banbasa area. They seized 5.688 kg of MDMA, valued at over Rs 10.23 crore internationally, officials reported. The woman, identified as Isha, aged 22, was caught with the drugs in her possession.

The police were patrolling the Sharda Canal area after receiving a tip-off. During their patrol, they noticed Isha running with a black backpack. Upon stopping her and inspecting the bag, they discovered two packets of the illegal substance.
Drug Trafficking Investigation
Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati confirmed that Isha was arrested and charged under the NDPS Act. During questioning, Isha revealed that her husband, Rahul Kumar, and his associate, Kunal Kohli, brought the drugs from Pithoragarh in June 2025.
Isha claimed she intended to dispose of the drugs due to fear of the ongoing anti-drug operations by the police. The authorities are actively searching for Rahul Kumar and Kunal Kohli as part of their investigation.
Police Commendation
Inspector General of Police for Kumaon Region, Riddhim Agarwal, has announced a reward of Rs 20,000 for the police team involved in this operation. This commendation highlights the importance of their efforts in combating drug trafficking in the region.
