'Maunvrat': Shashi Tharoor Refuses To Respond To A Question On Op Sindoor
Senior Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor chose not to answer media queries about Operation Sindoor on Monday. As he entered Parliament, he simply repeated the word "Maunvrat" twice, indicating his decision to remain silent on the matter.
The Lok Sabha is set for a 16-hour debate on Operation Sindoor, as announced by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. Tharoor's silence is significant because he was chosen by the BJP-led Centre to represent India's stance on terrorism after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.

Operation Sindoor and Its Impact
Operation Sindoor, initiated on May 7, involved India targeting key terror camps in Pakistan. Tharoor led a diplomatic mission to the United States and other American countries to gather international backing. However, his support for the government's position caused tension within the Congress party.
Tharoor's public endorsement of Operation Sindoor led to criticism from Congress leaders. His enigmatic social media posts were perceived as indirect criticisms, adding to the internal discord within the party.
Why He Is Not In The List Of Cong Speakers In Op Sindoor Discussion
Ahead of the Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor, Congress sources told Deccan Herald that they had approached the Kerala MP to be a speaker. However, he declined this request.
Congress Lok Sabha Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi reportedly contacted Tharoor following instructions from Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. Despite this outreach, Tharoor expressed his inability to participate in the debate.
Key Figures in the Debate
The discussion on Operation Sindoor begins today after opposition parties demanded it. This follows Indian forces' strikes on terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam attack.
Rahul Gandhi, along with his deputy Gaurav Gogoi and MPs Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Deepender Hooda, Parineeti Shinde, Shafi Parambil, Manickam Tagore, and Raja Barad from Congress will engage in this extensive discussion.
