Maulana Kalam, Sania Mirza, M Shami: Ravi Shankar Prasad Mentions Muslim Who Made India Proud In WAQF Speech
Former Law Minister and BJP MP from Patna Sahib, Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday kept his views on the WAQF amendment bill, which was introduced by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju in Lok Sabha.
The proposed amendments aim to bring changes to the existing Waqf Act, with a focus on streamlining governance and management of waqf properties across the country.

Starting with a thank you to the chair for the opportunity to speak on the crucial issue, Ravi Shankar Prasad replied to Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, who kept the Opposition's stance on the amendments proposed by the Modi government in the existing WAQF bill.
Ravi Shankar Prasad said the Opposition has started a trend of roaming with a red color copy of the Constitution, but he has brought a green color Constitution, which is also kept in the Parliament, and will now answer all misleading rumours spread by the Opposition.
He said, "Article 14 of the constitution gives power to the government to bring in new laws and make changes to existing laws for the welfare of women, then how this bill is unconstitutional? The WAQF amendment bill is for the upliftment of backward Muslims."
"WAQF is not a religious body, it is just a statutory body," Ravi Shankar Prasad added to clear the air.
He also mentioned Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, APJ Abdul Kalam, Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Mohammed Shami, and Sania Mirza as real ideals for Muslim community, claiming that the government believes in the betterment and upliftment of all.
Slamming the WAQF leaders, BJP leader asked, "a total of 8 lakh pieces of land belong to the Waqf across the country, how many schools, orphanages, skill centers, and hospitals were built on those lands?"
Opposition says their heart is willing to let reforms come in, but they are held back due to their political obligations.
