Mathura Temple New Dress Code, Bans Torn Jeans, Shorts and Night Suits

In a move to preserve traditional decorum, the Radharani temple in Barsana, Mathura, has issued a new dress code that prohibits people from entering the temple wearing shorts, night suits, or torn jeans. The order will come into effect in a week, according to a poster pasted outside the temple.

According to Rasbihari Goswami, an official representing the temple, the new dress code will be enforced starting in a week.

However, this is not the first temple in the area to implement a dress code.

The decision to implement this dress code follows in the footsteps of Radha Damodar temple, which had previously enacted a similar ban on clothing items considered inappropriate within the spiritual sanctum.

Furthermore, just days ago, Birua Badi temple management in Budaun district introduced a comprehensive dress code, which included prohibitions on jeans, t-shirts, torn jeans, night suits, and other such outfits, aiming to maintain the sanctity of the temple environment.

The reasons for the dress codes are unclear, but some people believe that they are an attempt to preserve the sanctity of the temples. Others believe that they are simply a way to keep the temples clean and tidy.

Whatever the reason, the dress codes have sparked some debate. Some people have argued that they are discriminatory and that they restrict people's freedom of expression. Others have defended the dress codes, arguing that they are necessary to maintain the dignity of the temples.
