Won't be attending Pak Day celebrations, will send colleagues: Separatist Masarat Alam

New Delhi, Mar 23: Separatist leader Masarat Alam, who was released from jail earlier this month, on Monday, March 23 said that he won't be attending the Pakistan's National Day celebrations.

Reacting to a query, Alam said, "I won't be attending due to health issues, will send my colleagues."

Pakistan had invited Masarat Alam, to attend its National Day celebrations on Monday.

Earlier this month, a huge political controversy had erupted over the release of Alam. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had even warned its new alliance partner in Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to mend its ways.

Pakistan is holding its first Republic Day parade in seven years in the capital of Islamabad on Monday, which was cancelled since 2008 amid fears of a Taliban attack.
