Mumbai, Oct 19: A Marathi film industry body today backed calls for ban on Pakistani film artistes working in India and opposed release of films featuring them.
In a statement here, the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal said it opposed release of films featuring Pakistani artistes till relation between the two countries improved.

"If such films are released, there would be tension during the festive season and people would not be able to properly celebrate Diwali," said the Mahamandal, which is affiliated to the Film Federation of India.
The organisation said it supports the ban on Pakistani artistes and technicians imposed by the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association and Cinema Owners and Exhibitors Association of India, which has said it will not screen films featuring actors from the neighbouring country.
