Akal Takht Jathedar Confirms Deliberation on Mann's Clarification Regarding Sikh Traditions

Acting Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj announced that Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann's clarification will be reviewed by the Akal Takht. Mann admitted to inappropriate remarks about Sikh traditions and agreed to a forensic examination of a related video.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently appeared before the Akal Takht secretariat concerning his alleged remarks on Sikh traditions. Acting Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj stated that Mann has been advised against making such comments in the future. Mann's clarification has been recorded and will be reviewed by the five Singh Sahiban Sikh clergy.

Gargajj noted that Mann admitted to making inappropriate remarks. The Akal Takht, the highest temporal authority of Sikhs, plans to independently examine a viral video involving Mann. This video allegedly shows Mann making comments about Guru ki Golak, a gurdwara donation box, and engaging in objectionable activities with images of Sikh gurus and Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

Forensic Examination of Video

Mann had previously claimed that the video was fake or AI-generated, suggesting it could be verified at any forensic lab in the country. Gargajj requested Mann to propose two forensic labs for examining the video. The Akal Takht will also conduct an independent forensic analysis. The findings will be presented to the Khalsa Panth for further action.

The jathedar emphasised that a forensic examination is crucial due to the video's connection with Sikh sentiments. He stressed that no one's character should be maligned without proper verification. Gargajj mentioned that the discussion with Mann was conducted in a cordial manner.

Addressing Allegations and Sentiments

Gargajj sought detailed clarifications from Mann on each allegation mentioned in complaints against him. Mann acknowledged making incorrect statements in the past and agreed to a forensic examination of the controversial video. Gargajj said Mann's past comments on Sikh traditions, Dasvandh - Guru Ki Golak, and internal matters were inappropriate and hurt Sikh community sentiments.

The jathedar presented Mann with a copy of the Sikh Rehat Maryada and the Gurdwara Gazette magazine, advising him to understand these documents. These publications contain records of income and expenditure statements of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

Administrative Affairs and Missing Saroops

During his appearance, Mann submitted documents related to SGPC's administrative affairs. These documents have been received by the Akal Takht secretariat's in-charge for examination. The SGPC will be informed after due review. In response to questions about 328 missing saroops of Guru Granth Sahib, Gargajj urged caution and advised against making unverified statements.

The jathedar reiterated that politics should not interfere with this sensitive issue. Any violation of this directive will result in serious consequences. The Akal Takht has already instructed everyone not to politicise this matter.

The situation highlights the importance of respecting religious sentiments and ensuring accurate communication regarding sensitive issues within the Sikh community.
