Manipur remains peaceful; 1 injured dies
Imphal, Sep 7: A man succumbed to his burn injuries, inflicted during the protest at Churachandpur town of Manipur against the passage of three bills in the assembly on August 31, even as the town remained peaceful today.
He died at the Regional Instituted of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital here, police officials said, adding that with this, the death toll in recent violence rose to nine.

Family members of the deceased and the Joint Action Committee (JAC) office bearers took the body from the RIMS Hospital mortuary this morning, they said.
The agitators have been protesting against the passage of three bills in the Manipur Assembly to protect the indigenous people of the state.
In many locality of Churachandpur district, people staged sit-in protest against the three bills but there was no report of any untoward incident in the past 24 hours, they said.
Several government buildings, houses of a minister and an MP have been torched by the protesters since the agitation began on August 31.
