Manipur: Govt Orders Twitter, Other Social Media Platforms To Remove Naked Parade Video
As the clip of two Manipuri women paraded naked surfaced online, the Centre has ordered Twitter and other social media platforms to remove the controversial clips, ANI reported citing sources.
"The government has issued an order to Twitter and other social media platforms, instructing them not to share the viral video of the two Manipuri women being paraded nude. It is imperative for social media platforms to adhere to Indian laws as the matter is currently under investigation," ANI quoted the government sources in a tweet.

Tension mounted in the hills of Manipur after a May 4 video surfaced on Wednesday showing two women from one of the warring communities being paraded naked by a few men from the other side.
The video was doing the rounds on the eve of a planned protest march announced by the Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) on Thursday to highlight their plight.
According to a spokesperson of ITLF, the "despicable scene, which happened on May 4 in Kangpokpi district, shows men constantly molesting the helpless women, who cry and plead with their captors.

"The horrifying ordeal suffered by these innocent women is amplified by the perpetrators' decision to share the video, which shows the identity of the victims, on social media." The police are looking into the matter.
The Superintendent of Police (SP), K Meghachandra Singh, in a press note, said that a case of abduction, gangrape and murder was registered at Nongpok Sekmai Police Station (Thoubal district) against unknown armed miscreants. Investigation has started and the state police is making an all-out effort to arrest the culprits at the earliest.
According to the press note, the State Police and Central forces are conducting search operations in various vulnerable fringe areas of both valley and hill districts in the state. During one such operation in Imphal East, the District Police successfully recovered 2 Arms and 2 Magazines.
However, the shocking clip has kicked off a political storm ahead of the Monsoon session of Parliament that gets underway on Thursday.
