Manipur assembly elections: 84% percent polling recorded in first phase
Imphal East registered a record 87% voting, which is highest ever for the constituency.
84 percent of voting was recorded in the first phase on Manipur assembly elections on Saturday, which was largely peaceful.

38 of the 60 assembly segments went to polls on Saturday, which began at 7 am and concluded at 3 pm. Heavy to very heavy polling was reported in certain constituencies of the state.
Imphal East registered a record 87% voting, which is highest ever for the constituency.
There are 19.02 lakh voters comprising 9.28 lakh male voters and 9.73 lakh women. There are around 45,642 new voters.
A total of 168 candidates were in fray for the 38 seats in the northeastern states.
There have been no reports of violence from anywhere in the state. The 2012 election was marred by violence as five were killed in militant attacks.
