Maneka Gandhi connects with people on Facebook, opens 2 new email accounts

New Delhi, June 10: Women and Child Development Minister

on Tuesday set up two new email accounts and a

account for anyone who needs help.

The personal email account of Maneka is [email protected] and the account of the Ministry of WCD is [email protected].

The Facebook account of the Ministry is www.facebook.com/ministryWCD.

These accounts have been created to facilitate an interactive exchange between citizens who need assistance of any kind from the Ministry and need to know more about various schemes and programmes of the Ministry.

Soon after assuming the charge of ministry, Maneka had said, "The ministry will set up an interactive complaints redressal page on Facebook for issues concerning women and children such as adoption, sexual offences and other atrocities."

Through this Facebook page, the ministry will be interacting directly with those who have sent the complaints or raised any issues that need attention. The minister had promised an interactive email-based helpline would also be set up for women.

On Badaun gangrape and murder case of two minor girls, Maneka had said, "It is a terrible case and symptomatic of what is happening in the country. Men commit rape and molestation as they can get away with it."

The Minister also said that she would soon constitute a "rape crisis cell" to ensure speedy action in such matters.
