Former MP and senior Congress leader A H Vishwanath is all set to quit the party. The man who was instrumental in bringing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to the Congress has alleged that he has been sidelined by the party. While Vishwanath is expected to join the JD(S) soon, no official statement has been made. Vishwanath, a prominent Kuruba leader, played a key role in convincing Siddaramaiah another Kuruba strongman to join the Congress after his ouster from the JD(S).

Much like S M Krishna, Vishwanath claimed that he was upset over being sidelined in the party, including when the Gundlupet and Nanjangud assembly bypolls were underway. The 67-year-old politician, who has been a Congressman for four decades, is currently in talks with former Prime Minister H D Devegowda. Vishwanath is said to have already held the first round of talks with H D Kumaraswamy and Madhu Bagarappa as well. While he has remained tight-lipped over which party he intends to join, he has already made up his mind to quit the Congress.

Vishwanath had been critical of Siddaramaiah and his governance in public over the last few months. His move to quit from the party comes even as Congress is in the process of retaining its leaders. Siddaramaiah had successfully managed to convince Ambareesh to not quit from the party last week.
