[Bizzare! ATM dispenses Rs 2,000 notes with 'CHURAN LABEL' in place of Ashok emblem]
On Wednesday, a State Bank of India ATM in South Delhi dispensed fake Rs 2,000 notes with 'Children Bank of India' written on them instead of Reserve Bank of India. The notes, which were replete with errors, had serial number of '000000'.
Other glaring deviations from the original note include P.K. logo instead of RBI seal and missing Rupee symbol. On the leaf markings on the lower left side of the original notes, the text was replaced by the Churan Label. Even the GOI's Ashok emblem was replaced by 'CHURAN LABEL'. The RBI Governor's signature was also missing and the text above it said, "I promise to pay the bearer two thousands coupens." Sangam Vihar police station had booked case under IPC sections 489-b, 489-e and 420. SBI too had constituted a team to investigate the matter.
