Delhi: Man shot dead, parents injured over caste rivalry

, Feb 16: A 24-year-old man was killed and his mother and father were injured when some unidentified assailants opened fire on them in Jaitpur area of South Delhi on Feb 15, police said.

The incident took place around 10:00 PM when Amit Mishra was standing outside his house. The assailants came in a car and shot at him, killing him on the spot. Hearing the shot, Amit's parents came out of the house and were also fired at, police said.

"Mishra was found dead on the spot and his parents have been rushed to the nearest hospital," said a police officer. Police suspect that the attack was the outcome of some caste rivalry in the area. "We are investigating the case," the officer said.
