Man shoots daughter dead in Aligarh, surrenders before police

Mahender walked into a police station and surrendered along with the Tamancha (Locally made pistol) after killing his daughter, Kavita.

A man has shot dead his daughter in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh. Mahender, the father, apparently did so because her marriage got cancelled after she eloped with her lover.

Mahender walked into a police station and surrendered along with the Tamancha (Locally made pistol) after killing his daughter, Kavita. Mahender is said to have fired at Kavita from a point blank range killing her immediately. The incident took place at Gandhi Park area in Mahavir Nagar, Aligarh.

According to reports, Kavita was supposed to get married on February 4, but she eloped with her lover on January 10. She returned after a few days but by then her marriage got cancelled. She wanted to go with her lover again, to which Mahender objected. After a heated argument, Mahender shot her dead.

Mahender has been arrested while Kavita's body has been sent for a post mortem.
