Uttar Pradesh Man Receives Life Sentence for Murdering His 10-Year-Old Nephew

A man in Uttar Pradesh has been sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his 10-year-old nephew, Krishna Pandey. The incident occurred during an alcohol-fuelled attack, raising concerns about family violence and addiction.

A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his 10-year-old nephew, officials reported. The court, presided over by Additional District and Sessions Judge Pushpa Singh, also levied a fine of Rs 25,000 on the accused, Rohit Pandey.

Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik explained that Rohit Pandey had a drinking problem and was often reprimanded by his elder brother, Rahul Pandey. On December 11, 2024, in Berwa Paharpur village, Rohit attacked his nephew Krishna Pandey with a knife while intoxicated.

Incident Details and Legal Proceedings

The tragic incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Koirouna police station. Krishna Pandey was critically injured and taken to a trauma centre in Varanasi but did not survive. Following the incident, Rahul Pandey filed a complaint leading to Rohit's arrest and subsequent charges.

Additional District Government Advocate Vinay Bind stated that after reviewing the evidence and hearing both parties, the judge delivered the verdict. The court found Rohit guilty of murder and imposed a life sentence along with a monetary penalty.

Family Dispute and Consequences

The family dispute stemmed from Rohit's alcohol addiction, which had been a source of tension between him and his brother Rahul. This ongoing conflict culminated in the tragic event where Rohit fatally attacked his nephew.
