A fire broke out in a building in Dwarka, southwest Delhi, prompting a 21-year-old man to jump from the first floor to escape. The incident occurred on Saturday, and officials reported that the fire started in the stilt parking area of the building. Emergency services were alerted at 2:12 pm by neighbours who noticed the blaze.

Upon receiving the call, police and several fire tenders rushed to the scene to tackle the flames. The fire had engulfed ready-made garments stored in the ground-floor parking area. These garments belonged to Ashish Bhardwaj, a resident of Palam, who also used the first floor as a godown for his business.

Fire Origin and Response

The initial investigation suggested that a spark in a water motor installed in the parking area might have caused the fire. Firefighters worked for two hours to extinguish the blaze. A detailed inspection by the fire department is scheduled for Sunday to determine the exact cause.

Bhardwaj had recently received a large consignment of garments from China, valued at approximately Rs 70-80 lakh. Unfortunately, this entire stock was destroyed in the fire. Abhishek, an employee of Bhardwaj, jumped from the first floor to avoid the flames and sustained a sprained ankle.

No other injuries or casualties were reported during this incident. The quick response from emergency services helped prevent further damage and ensured safety for other residents. The fire department will conduct a thorough investigation to confirm the cause and assess any potential safety violations.
