Man arrested for sexually harassing Dalit woman in UP

Muzaffarnagar, Dec 5 : A 30-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a Dalit woman on the pretext of marriage at Khatoli town in the district, police said on Saturday.

Sanjay Verma, who is an activist of Samajwadi Party and former vice president of its district unit, sexually harassed the woman (30) promising to marry her, Circle Officer DK Mittal said.

Later Verma refused to marry the woman, he said. Police have registered a case under Dalit (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in this connection, he said.
