"Very sad that one of our former jawans committed suicide. Unfortunate that Rahul Gandhi and Manish Sisodia were stopped from visiting bereaved family," Mamata tweeted.

"This is all happening in the name of political vendetta. Issues like these make me deeply concerned about national integrity and unity," she added.

She said the representative of the ruling Trinamool Congress was on his way to meet the deceased's family here. "They should be allowed. Our representative is on his way to Delhi."

Grewal, an ex-army man committed suicide on Tuesday evening. He was protesting and demanding the implementation of OROP.
