Mamata Banerjee Says 'NDA Government Not Stable, May Fall' | WATCH
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday suggested that the BJP-led NDA government might not complete its five-year term due to instability. "This government may not continue also. This is not a stable government," she remarked.
Before her visit to Mumbai, Banerjee mentioned that her meeting with INDIA bloc allies would involve "political talks" since they hadn't met after the Lok Sabha elections. The Trinamool Congress leader's engagements in Mumbai included meetings with key opposition figures.

Meeting with Uddhav Thackeray
Mamata Banerjee met INDIA bloc ally Uddhav Thackeray at his residence, Matoshree, in Mumbai. This was their first meeting since the Lok Sabha elections, and both leaders share a good rapport.
Banerjee expressed her support for Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT) in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly polls expected in October-November. Both parties are part of the Opposition's INDIA grouping.
Discussion with Sharad Pawar
Later, Banerjee met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar at his residence 'Silver Oak' in south Mumbai. The discussions were part of her efforts to strengthen ties within the opposition alliance.
In Maharashtra, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) secured 30 out of 48 Lok Sabha seats, surprising the ruling Mahayuti coalition which includes BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP. MVA constituents like Congress are members of the INDIA alliance at the national level.
Comments on Emergency Observance
The Bengal CM criticised the central government's decision to observe June 25 as 'Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas', marking the day Emergency was imposed in 1975. She stated that times associated with Emergency were most evident during PM Narendra Modi's tenure.
"We do not support Emergency....(but) charity begins at home," she said, according to news agency PTI. Banerjee also found it "absolutely unethical" to strip the Thackeray faction of its name and symbol but praised their resilience by saying they "fought like a tiger".
The Shiv Sena split in June 2022 resulted in the party name and 'bow and arrow' symbol being awarded to chief minister Eknath Shinde's faction. Despite this setback, Banerjee assured her support for Thackeray's faction in future political battles.
Mamata Banerjee’s visit highlighted her commitment to strengthening opposition unity against the ruling coalition. Her meetings with Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar aimed at consolidating efforts within the INDIA bloc ahead of crucial elections.
