Mallikarjun Kharge Appeals To Mamata Banerjee For Safety As Rahul Gandhi's Yatra Reaches Bengal
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been urged by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to ensure the safety of all individuals participating in the 'Bhata Jodo Nyay Yatra' led by Rahul Gandhi.
The yatra, commencing from Manipur and concluding in Maharashtra, is scheduled to enter Bengal next week.

Kharge Writes Letter to Mamta For 'Safety'
In a letter addressed to Mamata Banerjee, it was stated by Kharge that the yatra would be passing through Bengal over the next few days. Awareness has been raised that some miscreants may potentially foment trouble for the yatra. The intention behind this is uncertain, whether it be to portray the state administration negatively or to disrupt the yatra.
"I am writing to request you that you may kindly issue appropriate directions to ensure the smooth passage of the yatra through Bengal and ensure the safety of the yatris," he added. At a time when the Congress has been struggling to retain its allies within the INDIA bloc, Kharge's letter to the Trinamool chief becomes significant.
In Bihar, sources suggest that Nitish Kumar and his party Janata Dal (United) are likely to join hands with the BJP soon. JD(U), one of the largest parties within the Opposition alliance seeking to challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, is in the process of breaking away from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and aligning with the BJP.
Instead of Nitish Kumar stepping down, the BJP envisions reshuffling the Bihar cabinet by replacing RJD ministers with its MLAs.
