Twist in Malayalam actor Kalabhavan Mani's death case: Police register actor's death as unnatural

New Delhi, Mar 7: A case of unnatural death has been registered in connection with the death of Malayalam film actor Kalabhavan Mani by the Kerala Police.

According to an Indian Express report, traces of methyl alcohol were found in Mani's body.

"Police sources said a case of natural death was registered and the body would be handed over to the relatives after postmortem, which would be held at government medical college, Thrissur, before Monday noon.

Doctors at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (where Mani was admitted) noticed presence of methyl alcohol in his blood. Subsequently, they alerted police, leading to registering a case. But, police could not record the statement of Mani due to his deteriorating health condition," the report further added.

Popular Malayalam actor Kalabhavan Mani passed away at a private hospital in Kochi on Sunday. He was 45.

Unwell for a while, Mani was hospitalised for the past two days.

In a career spanning close to a quarter century, Mani has acted in around 200 films and of late, was seen more often in Tamil films.

Beginning his career as a mimicry artiste, he went on to play serious and even villain roles and was a popular singer too, especially of ballads.

For his brilliant portrayal as a blind man in the film Vasantiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njanum, he won the special jury award at the national and the state level.
