Mahua Moitra’s Dog Custody Battle: Ex-Partner Alleges She Kidnapped Henry, Files Complaint With Delhi Police

TMC MP Mahua Moitra, who is already entangled in the cash-for-query controversy, faces a fresh controversy as her former friend and advocate, Jai Anant Dehadrai, has purportedly written to the Delhi Police Commissioner, accusing her of "stealing" and "concealing" his pet dog, Henry. This development occurred merely four days after Mahua Moitra sent a legal notice to advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai, alleging that he had taken her dog.

The situation escalated when the advocate took to X on Friday (October 20) and asserted that Henry was being used to "pressure him into retracting his CBI complaint." In his post, he stated, "An attempt was made yesterday afternoon, to coerce me into withdrawing my CBI complaint and letter to @nishikant_dubey in exchange for Henry. I flatly refused - will give details to CBI. Messenger is totally innocent - but tells you everything about her."

This controversy emerged amid "cash for query" accusations made by Nishikant Dubey against TMC MP Mahua Moitra. Dubey penned a letter to Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Minister of State (MoS) IT Rajeev Chandrashekhar, asserting that Mahua Moitra was involved in "cash for query" dealings and urged an inquiry committee to be formed. He cited allegations of bribe exchanges between Moitra and businessman Darshan Hiranandani, labeling the actions as a "serious Breach of Privilege," "Contempt of the House," and a "Criminal Offense" under Section 120A of IPC.

In the letter addressed to the Delhi Police Commissioner, advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai meticulously detailed his pet dog Henry, including the purchase date, the amount paid, the pet shop's name, and the certificate, to substantiate his claim. Notably, he asserted that Mahua Moitra had "abducted" his pet dog Henry and emphasized the profound bond he shares with Henry, describing it as that of a "parent and a child." He pleaded for the protection of his life and liberty and the safe return of his dog, Henry.

Amidst this controversy, several netizens circulated videos of Mahua Moitra with pet Henry and criticised her behavior towards the dog as "disgusting" and "cringe-inducing."
