Maharashtra: Alliance's Interests Are Above Personal Ambitions, Says Shiv Sena's Eknath Shinde

Addressing media before the big announcement of Chief Ministers' name for Maharashtra, Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde dropped several hints that he might make a way for BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis for the top post. In his address, Eknath Shinde said he has promised Prime Minister Narendra Modi unconditional support to form next government in state.

"I spoke to PM Modi yesterday and told him that I wouldn't be an obstacle to any of his plans for Mahayuti or Maharashtra," Shinde told media people at his residence in Thane. He added that he told PM like his words are last list for BJP leaders, they are so for Shiv Sena.

Shinde said formation of a stable government, and alliance's interests are above his personal ambitions.

The political atmosphere in Maharashtra has been rife with speculation and anticipation regarding the appointment of the next Chief Minister. This comes in the wake of the Mahayuti alliance's triumphant win in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, where it clinched 237 out of the 288 seats available. The BJP emerged as the dominant force with 133 seats, while Shinde's Shiv Sena faction secured 57.

Despite Shinde being informally hinted at as the Chief Ministerial candidate throughout the campaign, the scales seem to be tipping in favor of Devendra Fadnavis of the BJP. Fadnavis's leadership and strategic insights have been pivotal in propelling the BJP to a commanding position in the state, further bolstered by the support of significant political figures like NCP's Ajit Pawar and the backing of the RSS.

Shinde's expression of loyalty and support towards PM Modi's decision-making reveals his deep-seated intention to prioritize the welfare of Maharashtra's citizens. During a press conference held in Thane, he articulated his view that the essence of holding the Chief Minister's office is to serve the common people's interests diligently. Reflecting on his 2.5-year tenure leading the Mahayuti alliance, Shinde recounted the collective efforts and milestones achieved in steering the alliance towards a monumental victory. His readiness to step back from the leadership race and endorse whoever is chosen by the BJP's leadership underscores a keen focus on maintaining party unity and facilitating effective governance in Maharashtra.

As the Mahayuti alliance leaders are slated to meet the BJP's top officials in Delhi on November 28, there's an eager wait for the official announcement of Maharashtra's next Chief Minister. This forthcoming decision is crucial in shaping the state's political and developmental trajectory. Shinde's approach, marked by a readiness to conform to the party and alliance's broader goals, is indicative of a mature political landscape in Maharashtra that values collective progress over individual aspirations. It is this spirit of cooperation and dedication to public service that defines the current political narrative in Maharashtra, setting the stage for a collaborative and unified governance model going forward.
