Mahakumbh 2025 E-Pass: Six Color-Coded E-Passes, Who Gets What And Why?

Mahakumbh 2025 E-Pass: As the Maha Kumbh of 2025 nears, an event that occurs only once every 12 years, millions of devotees are preparing to embark on a spiritual journey to Prayagraj. This grand gathering, expected to be of unparalleled scale, presents immense logistical challenges. In response, the Uttar Pradesh government has introduced a pioneering e-pass system to streamline the movement of attendees, ensuring a smooth, safe, and organized experience for everyone involved.

The introduction of this e-pass system marks a critical step in addressing the crowd management and safety concerns surrounding the Maha Kumbh.

The Color-Coded E-Pass System:

Each e-pass is designed to improve the efficiency of entry and exit points, while also enhancing the ability to monitor and track pilgrims throughout the event. The passes, distinguished by six unique colors, are tailored to cater to different groups, ensuring that each participant's movement is managed with precision. The system's primary goal is to prevent congestion, allow swift responses to incidents, and maintain the spiritual atmosphere of the occasion without disruptions.

One of the key elements of the e-pass system is its capacity to enhance security measures. By encoding individual data on each pass, the authorities can more easily monitor the movement of pilgrims, keeping track of their locations and promptly addressing any emergency situations. This data-driven approach provides the authorities with a powerful tool to maintain order and ensure the safety of the millions attending the event.

E-Pass Distribution

The distribution of e-passes has been carefully designed to cater to various groups that are integral to the functioning of the Maha Kumbh. VVIPs, media personnel, police officers, and essential workers are among the first to receive the passes. These passes are not only a convenience for the recipients but also an important element in the overall planning to keep the event orderly and secure. The allocation of specific passes to specific groups allows for smooth access and mobility within the fair, ensuring that critical personnel and participants have the freedom to move without hindrance.

For devotees planning to attend, understanding the system is essential. The e-passes are color-coded to represent different groups.

  • White Passes: For High Court officials, VIPs, foreign ambassadors, and non-resident Indians, ensuring seamless participation.
  • Saffron Passes: For individuals from Akharas and religious institutions, reflecting the spiritual essence of the event.
  • Yellow Passes: For vendors, food court operators, and milk booth workers providing essential services.
  • Sky Blue Passes: For media personnel, responsible for broadcasting the event to a global audience.
  • Blue Passes: For police personnel, ensuring security and maintaining order during the event.
  • Red Passes: For emergency and essential services, ensuring quick access to critical support.

In order to manage access, the government has also made provisions for accommodation. Tents for devotees will be set up, and these arrangements can be booked through the official website of Indian Railways. This integration of accommodation bookings with the e-pass system demonstrates a holistic approach to managing the logistics of the event, ensuring that pilgrims are well-catered for during their stay.
