Mahakumbh 2025: A Look At Star-Studded Lineup And Top Performers Set To Grace Prayagraj
The Mahakumbh 2025, one of the world's largest spiritual gatherings, has officially begun at the Sangam-the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. This momentous event, marking the return of Mahakumbh to Prayagraj after 144 years, was inaugurated on January 13 and will continue until February 26. It has attracted global attention, drawing both devotees and high-profile figures from around the world.
Held every 12 years, the Mahakumbh rotates among four holy locations in India: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik, and Ujjain. For millions of pilgrims, a dip in the sacred waters at Sangam during the festival is believed to cleanse sins and lead to spiritual liberation.

Global and Celebrity Participation
The Mahakumbh 2025 has drawn interest from many prominent personalities. Bollywood stars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Anup Jalota, Renuka Shahane, Ashutosh Rana, Ravi Kishan, Manoj Tiwari, Akshara Singh, and Rakhi Sawant are among the expected attendees.
Political leaders are also set to join the festival. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who announced the dates, will take part in key rituals and events. Union Minister Smriti Irani, BJP President J.P. Nadda, and other state leaders are also anticipated, highlighting the event's cultural and political significance in addition to its spiritual importance.
Adding a global flair to the festival, Laurene Powell Jobs, the American philanthropist and widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, visited the Mahakumbh. Accompanied by a 40-member team, she is staying at the ashram of Swami Kailashnand Giri, Acharya Mahamandleshwar of Niranjini Akhara. Past Mahakumbh festivals have seen the presence of international figures like Richard Gere, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and the Dalai Lama.
Cultural Performances to Enrich the Festival
The Mahakumbh Mela will feature a series of spectacular performances by renowned artists.

To accommodate the growing influx of international visitors, the Ministry of Tourism has set up a 5,000-square-foot "Incredible India Pavilion" at the Mahakumbh. This pavilion will serve as a hub for foreign tourists, scholars, researchers, photographers, and journalists, while also hosting the "Dekho Apna Desh" People's Choice Poll, where participants can vote for their favorite Indian tourist destinations.
Additionally, a dedicated toll-free Tourist Infoline (1800111363 or 1363) has been launched, available in English, Hindi, and 10 international languages, as well as several regional Indian languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Assamese, and Marathi.
