On Wednesday, Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw assessed the crowd management at eight railway stations in Prayagraj from the Rail Bhavan's war room. The ministry's statement highlighted that additional trains will be run as needed to manage passenger congestion while maintaining comfort in holding areas.

Vaishnaw Reviews Crowd Management at Maha Kumbh

By 6 pm on February 12, 2025, a total of 225 trains had been operated to facilitate passenger travel, with over 12.46 lakh passengers having travelled. On the previous day, Tuesday, 343 trains were operated, transporting more than 14.69 lakh passengers. The ministry emphasised that train information is being continuously provided by Indian Railways through various channels.

Passenger Facilities and Information Dissemination

The Indian Railways is ensuring that information related to train services is readily available through special bulletins, Mahakumbh area holding zones, railway stations, social media, and other media outlets. This comprehensive approach aims to keep passengers informed and updated about train schedules and services.

For passenger convenience, four holding areas near Prayagraj junction railway station have been fully operational. Each of these areas can accommodate up to 5,000 people. Additionally, a new holding area at Khusrobagh has been set up with a capacity for 100,000 passengers. This facility was made operational today on the occasion of Maghi Purnima.

Enhanced Facilities for Pilgrims

Special arrangements have been made at the Khusrobagh holding area to ensure waiting passengers can stay comfortably until they board their trains. These arrangements include lodging, meals, and other essential services. The focus is on providing a comfortable experience for passengers during their wait.

The Prayagraj division has been directed to run extra trains as required to alleviate passenger congestion while ensuring comfort in holding areas. This proactive measure is part of the ministry's efforts to manage the large influx of pilgrims effectively.

The ministry's commitment to managing passenger flow efficiently during this period reflects its dedication to ensuring a smooth travel experience for all pilgrims visiting Prayagraj. By implementing these measures, the Indian Railways aims to provide seamless services during peak travel times.
