Rajasthan Cabinet Allocates Rs 101 Crore for Temple Renovations and Increases Priests' Stipends
The Rajasthan Cabinet has approved a budget of Rs 101 crore for temple renovations and increased the honorarium for part-time priests. This decision was made during a meeting in Prayagraj, following a holy dip at the Maha Kumbh by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, ministers, and state MLAs. The funds will support temples under the Devasthan Department's control.

Temple Renovation and Development
The allocated Rs 101 crore will be used for renovating, repairing, and developing six temples directly managed by the government and 26 self-dependent temples. Additionally, Rs 25 crore is set aside for restoring dilapidated temples outside the state. A survey will be conducted to list these temples accurately.
Increased Support for Temples
The cabinet decided to double the monthly funds to Rs 3,000 for various services in 390 temples under direct charge and 203 self-dependent temples. This increase covers service, worship, bhog, prasad, festivals, dress, water, light, and security operations. These enhancements aim to improve temple management and visitor experience.
Honorarium for Part-Time Priests
Part-time priests serving in these temples will see their monthly honorarium rise from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,500. This increment acknowledges their contribution and aims to support their livelihood better. The decision reflects the government's commitment to preserving cultural heritage while supporting those who maintain it.
These measures highlight Rajasthan's dedication to enhancing temple infrastructure and supporting religious staff. By investing in temple upkeep and priest welfare, the state aims to preserve its rich cultural heritage while ensuring better facilities for devotees.
