Maha Kumbh 2025: Police Implement Extensive Security Checks at Sangam Ghat and Pontoon Bridges
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced an intensive security campaign in the Mela area, especially near Sangam, as the Maha Kumbh approaches. The event, scheduled from January 13 to February 26, is expected to attract between 40 crore and 45 crore visitors, including international attendees. This initiative aims to ensure a smooth and secure festival experience for all participants.

Enhanced Security Measures
Deputy Inspector General of Police Vaibhav Krishna IPS is spearheading the security efforts. The campaign prioritises monitoring suspicious activities and individuals at key locations like Sangam Ghat and pontoon bridges. The DIG has instructed station in-charges to increase vigilance and adopt a proactive stance on security matters. These measures are crucial to prevent any incidents and maintain public safety during the event.
Rigorous Inspections
Teams led by additional superintendents of police, circle officers, and station in-charges are conducting thorough inspections. They are focusing on suspicious individuals, vehicles, and potential encroachments. Additional security personnel have been stationed on pontoon bridges to enhance safety protocols. These steps are part of a broader strategy to ensure a peaceful Maha Kumbh.
Preparation for the Festival
In anticipation of the festival, police stations have been instructed to remain alert. The goal is to ensure an incident-free event by strengthening security arrangements further. The authorities are committed to providing a safe environment for the millions of visitors expected to attend this significant religious gathering.
The comprehensive security measures reflect the state's dedication to ensuring a successful Maha Kumbh. By implementing these strategies, the government aims to facilitate a secure and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
