Maha Kumbh Sees Over 50 Lakh Nepali Devotees Taking Holy Dip at Triveni Sangam

More than 50 lakh devotees from Nepal, the birthplace of Maa Janaki, have participated in the holy dip at Triveni Sangam during the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, as per an official statement. This event has generated significant excitement among Nepalese devotees, who have brought sacred offerings like holy akshat rice from Janakpur, Maa Sita's birthplace and Lord Ram's in-laws' place, to present to Bade Hanuman Ji.

The Maha Kumbh, which commenced on January 13 and will conclude on February 26, coinciding with Maha Shivratri, has seen over 50 crore people taking a holy dip at Triveni Sangam, according to the Uttar Pradesh government. The event has not only attracted Indian pilgrims but also a substantial number of devotees from Nepal.

Significance of Sacred Offerings

Nepalese devotees consider the sand and Ganga water from Sangam as invaluable spiritual heritage. They carry these back to Nepal for use in various religious ceremonies. Many apply the sacred sand on their foreheads before returning home. Shri Ram Sigdel, president of the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents Banke Chapter, highlighted the importance of these offerings.

Besides participating in the holy bath at Sangam, Nepalese devotees are increasingly visiting Shri Ram in Ayodhya and Baba Vishwanath in Kashi. Their deep faith in Bade Hanuman temple and Akshay Vat is evident through their rituals and reverence. This devotion underscores the cultural and spiritual ties between India and Nepal.
