Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 Seen From Space: NASA Astronaut Shares Breathtaking Shots
NASA astronaut Donald Pettit recently shared stunning images of the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela taken from the International Space Station (ISS).
In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Pettit wrote, "2025 Maha Kumbh Mela Ganges River pilgrimage from the ISS at night. The largest human gathering in the world is well lit."

The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj has already attracted over 110 million people during its first 14 days, marking it as one of the largest spiritual gatherings globally. Taking place once every 12 years, the event is expected to continue drawing vast crowds until it concludes on February 26, 2025. With millions of devotees arriving from across the globe, the festival stands as a vibrant expression of faith and unity.
Pilgrims flock to the Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the now-extinct Saraswati rivers, to take a ritual bath. This holy dip is believed to cleanse sins and guide followers towards moksha (liberation), embodying the deep spiritual essence of the festival rooted in Sanatan Dharma.
