Digambar, Nirvani, Nirmohi Akharas Set To Join 2025 Maha Kumbh In Prayagraj

As Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, gears up for the grand commencement of the 2025 Maha Kumbh on January 13, the city is abuzz with preparations. In an impressive display of tradition and spirituality, the three major akharas of the Vaishnav sect, namely Digambar, Nirvani, and Nirmohi, are set to participate in the festivities, ANI reported.

These akharas, established post-Mughal era, along with a significant number of Khalsa, will mark their presence in a ceremonial procession. This procession, a vibrant showcase involving elephants, horses, camels, and the auspicious white and yellow flags, will enter the holy city under stringent security coordinated by both local and state administrations.

Jagadguru Rambhadracharya, leading the procession, is joined by the Mahants of the three akharas. Rambhadracharya's message is clear: "I want to wake up Hindus through this Maha Kumbh. When the Hindus will become conscious, every opposition will be on our feet."

His statement underscores the spiritual awakening and unity he aims to foster among Hindus through the event. Further addressing controversies, he refuted claims regarding the festival's venue, stating, "The entire Prayagraj is ours, they are lying. This is their mischief." He also asserted his stance against political interference in religious matters, emphasizing his influential role in the Kumbh's spiritual domain.

The Uttar Pradesh government, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is ensuring that the 2025 Mahakumbh matches, if not surpasses, the success of the 2019 Kumbh. Nand Gopal Gupta, a minister from Uttar Pradesh, has confirmed that all preparations are in place for this massive event, which anticipates around 40-45 crore visitors.

Echoing this sentiment, former Mayor of Prayagraj, Abhilasha Gupta, highlighted the Mahakumbh's role in promoting unity among Indians, remarking, "Prayagraj is a Kumbh Nagri and a city of Sanatani... Under this Maha Kumbh celebration, the message that will be spread is how to unite people under one roof...Our motive is to spread the message of Lord Ram..."

In the lead-up to the festival, the Uttar Pradesh Police, led by Deputy Inspector General Vaibhav Krishna, launched an extensive checking campaign to ensure the event's security. This initiative includes rigorous surveillance and monitoring of suspicious activities, particularly around key locations like the Sangam Ghat, pontoon bridges, and major intersections.

Adding a spiritual dimension to the preparatory phase, Mahamandaleshwar Kaushalya Nand Giri of Kinnar Akhara conducted a special fire ritual (Havan) dedicated to Maa Baglamukhi, one of the 10 Mahavidyas. This ritual, performed with mustard seeds, was aimed at ensuring the divine, grand, and safe conduct of the Mahakumbh. "Maha Kumbh will be grand. We performed Havan in our Akhara for the safety (of people) in Maha Kumbh...We prayed for their safe journey," Kaushalya Nand Giri said, highlighting the government's efforts to accommodate the expected 40 crore attendees.

The 2025 Mahakumbh, a festival returning after 12 years, promises to be a monumental gathering of over 45 crore devotees. They will converge at the Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers meet, seeking to purify themselves with a holy dip that is believed to wash away sins and provide liberation.

The event will feature several main bathing days (Shahi Snan) on January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami), before concluding on February 26. This religious gathering not only reaffirms the faith of millions but also underscores the cultural and spiritual fabric of India.
