Maha Kumbh 2025: Rs 2 Lakh Crore Revenue Predicted, 40 Crore Visitors Expected

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that the Maha Kumbh is expected to attract 40 crore devotees this year, potentially boosting the economy by Rs 2 trillion. At the 'Divine Uttar Pradesh: The Must Visit Sacred Journey' conclave, he credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for encouraging national pride in India's heritage.

Adityanath highlighted the economic benefits of the Maha Kumbh, noting that the 2019 event added Rs 1.2 trillion to Uttar Pradesh's economy. This year's gathering is anticipated to further enhance economic growth with a significant turnout of devotees.

Spiritual and Cultural Significance

The chief minister emphasised that the Maha Kumbh is more than a religious event; it symbolises social and spiritual unity. He described it as the world's largest temporary city, accommodating between 50 lakh to one crore people at any time.

In 2024 alone, over 16 crore pilgrims have visited Kashi Vishwanath in Varanasi, while Ayodhya welcomed more than 13.55 crore visitors from January to September. The upcoming Maha Kumbh Mela, scheduled from January 13 to February 26, aims to elevate India's cultural traditions globally.

Criticism of Divisive Elements

Adityanath criticised those who admire foreign invaders' legacies over India's rich heritage. "These individuals thrive on division -- whether by caste, region, language or other factors -- and use such divides for political gain expecting a constructive approach from them would be futile," he said.

He argued that such people fail to grasp the significance of events like the Maha Kumbh and transformations in sacred cities like Ayodhya and Kashi. He expressed pride in showcasing India's spiritual heritage through the upcoming Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.

Modernity Meets Tradition

The chief minister noted that under PM Modi's leadership, India's spiritual roots are celebrated worldwide. Describing the Maha Kumbh as a grand spiritual event, he highlighted its blend of faith and modern technology.

Adityanath assured that both central and state governments are working with revered saints to ensure the event's success. He emphasised environmental sustainability efforts, including preventing sewage from entering the Ganga and Yamuna rivers.

The Maha Kumbh promises not only economic growth but also an opportunity for India to present its profound spiritual legacy on a global stage. With meticulous planning and collaboration, it aims to be a model of modernity intertwined with tradition.
