The wall, over 50 years old, gave way after incessant rainfall weakened its foundation.

Sagar District Collector Deepak Arya confirmed the unfortunate event, stating, "The wall fell on the children, due to which 9 children died and 2 are undergoing treatment in the hospital."

The children, aged between 10 to 15 years, were buried under the debris. Although the site has been cleared of debris, the tragedy has left the community in shock.

This incident closely follows another in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district, where the collapse of an abandoned building's wall resulted in the deaths of four children.

In response to these tragic events, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his deep sorrow and announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the victims.

Additionally, two individuals were arrested in connection with the Rewa incident, with charges filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
