Madhya Pradesh: Shivraj Singh Chouhan mocks Kamal Nath over his 'bedaag' claim

Bhopal, Oct 30: The Congress and BJP continue to trade barbs in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh in the run-up to the November 3 by-elections. While the grand old party has resorted to some low, sexist comments, the ruling BJP too has matched it back with personal attacks.

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath is eyeing to win all 28 Assembly seats going to polls and fancy a backdoor entry to the Vidhan Sabha after his 1.5-year-old tenure came to an abrupt end in March.

In the process, the former CM is trying hard to tell people that he does not perpetrate corruption or has a blemished image, as is being alleged by the BJP.

On Friday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took a jibe at Kamal Nath along these same lines and said that even if the Congress veteran tries to wash away his stains using detergent, he'll fail in putting up a clean image.

"Kamal Nathiji kehte hain ki woh bilkul bedaag hain, lekin daag bade gehre hain, benakab hain. Agar duniyabhar ke washing powder bhi istemaal karein, toh bhi woh daag dhul nahi sakte. Isliye aap (Kamal Nath) khud ko bedaag kehna bandh karein. (Kamal Nathji says that he is absolutely immaculate, but the stains are very deep, exposed. Even if you use washing powders from all over the world, those stains cannot be washed away. So, you should stop calling yourself immaculate," Chouhan said.

"The BJP knows clearly the outcome of these by-elections. They are so much afraid of November 10 that they are back in the 'market' to 'purchase' anyone they can. I have got calls from several MLAs who said that they have been contacted by the BJP with 'offers'," Nath reportedly said.

According to the Election Commission, bypolls to 28 Assembly seats will be held on November 3 and the results will be declared on November 10. The elections are being held due to the resignations of 25 MLAs and deaths of three legislators.
