Bhopal, July 21: As rape cases against minors have increased manifold in the last few months across the country, the latest case of sexual assault against a girl has been reported from Madhya Pradesh.

According to ANI, a 16-year-old girl was gang-raped by three men in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar. The traumatised victim committed suicide after the brutal sexual assault against her.

The police stated that all the accused in the crime have been arrested. Further police investigation is underway, stated ANI.

"Sagar: 16-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide after she was allegedly gang-raped by 3 men. SP Satendra Shukla says, 'case has been registered. All accused have been arrested. Further investigation underway.' #MadhyaPradesh (20.07.18)," tweeted ANI.

In the last few months, the nation has witnessed an unprecedented rise in rapes of women and girls. Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday had condemned the gang-rape of a Haryana woman by 40 men.

Congress president tweeted about the incident to express his shock and disgust. This is what Rahul wrote on Twitter: "The rape of a young woman in Haryana, by 40 men, has shocked & disgusted me. Ironically, today in Parliament, I had drawn attention to the issue of growing violence against woman. As a nation, we must hang our heads in shame, for our inability to protect this daughter of India."
