Madhya Pradesh Election: BJP Releases First List Of 39 Candidates, Fields Scindia Loyalist Adal Singh Kansana
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday released the first list of 39 candidates for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2023, due to be held later this year.
The candidate list was unveiled following a meeting of the BJP Central Election Committee in New Delhi, held a day prior. The gathering was attended by notable figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, key state leaders, and Union Ministers.

Within Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has put forward candidates including Sarla Vijendra Rawat for Sabalgarh, Priyanka Meena for Chachaoura, Lalita Yadav for Chhatarpur, Anchal Sonkar for Jabalpur Purba (SC), Nirmala Bhuriya for Petlawad, Bhanu Bhuriya for Jhabua (ST), Alok Sharma for Bhopal Uttar, and Dhruv Narayan Singh for Bhopal Madhya, among others.
The BJP's prompt release of this initial candidate list underscores its recognition of the paramount importance of the forthcoming state elections, serving as the final assembly challenge preceding the pivotal Lok Sabha polls.
Beyond Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram are also set to conduct elections later this year.
Presently, the BJP holds sway exclusively in Madhya Pradesh, and it is intensively campaigning to dislodge the Congress government in Chhattisgarh.
In the 2018 elections, the BJP secured 15 out of 90 seats in the Chhattisgarh assembly, as opposed to Congress's 68 seats. In the 230-member Madhya Pradesh assembly, the BJP clinched 109 seats, while the Congress obtained 114 seats.
