Madhya Pradesh CM Takes Dig at Congress Over Lok Sabha Candidate List

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav criticized the Congress for not fielding any prominent candidates in the state for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Raipur, March 12: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress, asserting that the party is engaged in a futile battle and its initial list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections lacks prominent names for seats in the central state.

Yadav's Remarks

Yadav, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, made these remarks while addressing reporters at the Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur before returning to Madhya Pradesh after concluding his day-long tour of Chhattisgarh, which is also governed by the BJP.

Congress' Second List of Candidates

On Tuesday evening, the Congress unveiled its second list of 43 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls, which are likely to be held in April-May. Out of these 43 candidates, 10 are from Madhya Pradesh, where the Congress managed to secure only one seat, Chhindwara, out of a total of 29 in the 2019 elections.

Yadav's Criticism of Congress List

Commenting on the Congress' list of Lok Sabha candidates for Madhya Pradesh, Yadav stated, "The Congress is fighting a losing battle. There are no prominent names in this list. In contrast, the BJP's first list of candidates included the names of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and several other leaders."

Reluctance of Prominent Congress Leaders

The BJP leader further claimed that prominent Congress politicians are hesitant to contest the upcoming polls. "We can all comprehend that the upcoming period will be extremely challenging for the Congress as its senior leaders have already abandoned the ground, and the consequences are evident," Yadav remarked.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's criticism of the Congress' Lok Sabha candidate list reflects the ongoing political rivalry between the two parties. As the election campaign intensifies, it remains to be seen how these verbal volleys will impact the electoral outcomes in Madhya Pradesh and across India.
