Chandigarh Police FIR and notice details in Madhu Kishwar case

A police team served a notice to Kishwar in Delhi on April 21. The notice asked Kishwar to join the investigation in Chandigarh on April 22. Kishwar later said two separate police teams visited the Delhi office on April 21 and April 22. Kishwar said both notices referred to FIR No. 44.

"Two separate teams of Chandigarh Police met me at my Delhi office on April 21 & April 22 to deliver two notices regarding FIR No. 44 filed against me on 19/04/2026 at PS-26 in Chandigarh. The Notice asks me to join the investigation in the case mentioned above. However, neither team provided me with a copy of the FIR registered against me, despite my repeated requests. In fact, I registered my protest in writing when accepting the second notice on April 22, she wrote.\"

Supreme Court rules on FIR copy cited in Chandigarh Police FIR row

Kishwar said an email went to the investigating officer of PS-26 on April 21. Kishwar wrote that Kishwar would cooperate fully after receiving a copy of the FIR. Kishwar said the document was needed to collect material for a defence. Kishwar added that no reply arrived.

\"This is despite clear Supreme Court rulings stating that a copy of the FIR must be provided to the person against whom the case is registered. Since the Supreme Court has also ruled that the police must upload a copy of each FIR within 24 hours of filing it, I decided to download it from your website. To my utter surprise, the FIR registered against me on April 19, 2026 has not yet been uploaded on the website of Chandigarh Police. Dr Hooda, without a copy of the FIR, and without knowing the facts on which it was registered, how can I join the investigation in Chandigarh, on April 25? Or provide the relevant evidence for my defence, she asked.\"

While urging the DGP to upload the case papers, Kishwar also posted an assurance of cooperation. \"I assure you of my full cooperation, provided the police acts as per law.\" Kishwar’s post came on Thursday evening on X. The request focused on publishing the FIR on the Chandigarh Police website.

Complaint details behind Chandigarh Police FIR against Madhu Kishwar

Police said a city-based complainant approached them on April 19. The complaint alleged that forged and misleading posts and video clips were circulated online. Police said the clips had obscene text and content. The complainant also alleged that the material misidentified the person shown in the video.

According to the complaint, the act involved creating a false electronic record. The complainant alleged the posts used obscene words and phrases. The complaint claimed the users knew, or had reason to believe, that the content was false. It also alleged an intent to cause damage or injury.

The complainant further alleged the video aimed to harm the reputation of a constitutional authority. The complaint also alleged it could disturb public peace and tranquillity. The complainant asked police to investigate the circulation and take appropriate action. Police said allegations included cheating and forgery-related offences too.

Police said the person in the video was a travel vlogger. The complainant said the vlogger’s wife often posted updates about activities online. Police said the original video was shared from the wife’s social media account. Police also referred to a preliminary enquiry around the same video clip.

As per police, the woman stated that the person in the video was the woman’s husband. Police said statements of the husband and another lady in the video were recorded. The police said this happened during the preliminary investigation stage. The case continued as police asked Kishwar to join the probe.
