Family of Rohit, 23-Year-Old Chef Killed in Vasant Kunj Accident, Mourns Loss of Sole Breadwinner

He was killed by a speeding Mercedes SUV in Vasant Kunj, southwest Delhi. The accident also critically injured two others, Kapil and Lalit, who are receiving medical care.

Rohit hailed from Chamoli in Uttarakhand and worked as a chef at a restaurant inside Ambience Mall. He earned about Rs 15,000 monthly. His family depended on him for financial support, as he sent most of his earnings home while saving for his future aspirations. His uncle, Balwant Singh, described Rohit as soft-spoken and humble.

Family's Hopes Shattered

Rohit's family is struggling to cope with the loss. Singh expressed their despair, saying they don't know how to manage without him. "He was just standing there waiting for a ride home. The SUV driver destroyed all our dreams," Singh said. The incident has particularly affected Rohit's mother, leaving her heartbroken.

The accident occurred near Ambience Mall on Nelson Mandela Marg early on Sunday. Rohit and his colleagues were waiting for transportation back to their rented home in Munirka after finishing their shift when the tragedy struck. The police have stated that Rohit's body will be released to his family following the post-mortem examination.

Ongoing Medical Treatment

The other two victims of the accident, Kapil and Lalit, are currently receiving treatment for their injuries. Police sources have indicated that Kapil's condition is serious, and he remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Rohit's untimely death has left a void in his family's life that they find difficult to fill. His dedication to supporting his parents and siblings since he was 20 years old highlights the significant role he played in their lives. The family now faces an uncertain future without their primary source of support.
