Lok Sabha Poll Predictions: Will Nitish's Return Help NDA To Win Big In Bihar? Here's What Opinion Poll Says

On a day Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President JP Nadda, a survey has indicated that the NDA is heading for a big victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

According to The Times Now-Matrize survey, the BJP-led NDA alliance will win 35 seats while the INDIA bloc is heading for a poor show again as it is predicted to bag just five seats.

However, the surveys conducted in the last few months, before Nitish rejoined the NDA, had shown that the INDIA bloc was giving a tough fight to the BJP. However, the scenario seems to have changed now.

In January last week, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made his second political volte-face in less than three years as rejoined the BJP-led NDA alliance, thereby ditching 'Mahagathbandhan'.

However, the NDA alliance had won 39 seats in 2019 polls. While the BJP had bagged 17 seats, the JDU had won 16 seats with the Congress winning 1 seat.

In 2014, the BJP, which did not have an alliance with the JDU, had won 22 seats. Its allies Lok Janshakti Party and Rashtriya Lok Samata Party had won 7 and 6 seats, respectively.

Will NDA gain in Lok Sabha by forming an alliance with the JDU once again? What do people think?

The latest survey findings are below:

  • 41 per cent say there will be a huge benefit.
  • 22 per cent say there will be no benefit.
  • 21 per cent say there will be some benefit.
  • 12 per cent say it is difficult to say right now.
  • 4 per cent say can't say.

Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday in what was their first meeting after the Janata Dal (United) president dumped the opposition INDIA bloc and joined the BJP-led NDA.

In brief remarks to reporters later, the JD(U) chief recalled his association with the BJP since 1995, before he broke the ties in 2013, and said he might have left it twice but will never do it now.

"Never now. We will remain here (in the NDA)," he said.
