Lok Sabha Elections 2024: What Are The Final Vote Shares Of The BJP-Led NDA And INDIA Bloc Comprising Congress

The BJP-led NDA's final vote share of 43.6 per cent in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election represents a 1.4-point drop from what the coalition's constituents received in 2019, according to a Lokniti survey cited by The Hindu.

In contrast, the INDIA bloc secured a significant 41.4% support, including the Trinamool Congress's shares, marking a notable increase from 2019.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 What Are The Final Vote Shares Of The BJP-Led NDA And INDIA Bloc Comprising Congress

In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, key factors such as the Balakot airstrike, the PM-Kisan scheme, and the 10 per cent reservation for the Economically Weaker Sections category helped the Narendra Modi government secure 303 seats, as noted by the Lokniti survey. However, this time, various narratives and political issues undermined the party's performance in its strongholds.

While the BJP made gains in Odisha and Telangana, these were not enough to compensate for the losses in the Hindi heartland.

The estimated vote share of the BJP is 36.56 per cent, followed by the Congress (21.96 per cent), SP (4.58 per cent), TMC (4.37 per cent), YSRCP (2.06 per cent), BSP (2.04 per cent), TDP (1.98 per cent), DMK (1.82 per cent), CPI(M) (1.76 per cent), RJD (1.57 per cent), and others (21.3 per cent).

An intriguing aspect of the story is that the survey indicates Rahul Gandhi has outperformed Narendra Modi in Uttar Pradesh. Notably, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi led Prime Minister Modi by four points (36 per cent versus 32 per cent) among respondents in Uttar Pradesh regarding their preference for the Prime Minister's post, a worrying sign for the BJP.

In the recent Lok Sabha polls, the BJP's seats were reduced to 33 from 62 in 2019 in Uttar Pradesh. This time, the Congress had strong backing from Dalits, other OBCs, and minorities in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, the Samajwadi Party's depiction of the BJP's agenda as a threat to the Constitution further energized the Opposition.

The survey findings claim that the BJP cannot just bank on the Hindutva anymore and it might be a unifying factor in some states like Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
