Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Chirag Paswan Announces His Candidature From Bihar's Hajipur Constituency
Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) chief Chirag Paswan, son of late former MP Ram Vilas Paswan, on Wednesday announced that he will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Bihar's Hajipur seat. Talking to the media, Chirag Paswan said his party meeting is underway and soon candidates for the other four seats will be finalized and announced.
He added that the people of Hajipur always wanted him to take over the legacy of his father and now he is all ready to serve the people of Bihar who have always supported him and his party.

For the unversed, LJP is in alliance with BJP and will field five candidates, including Chirag Paswan, out of 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar.
Through the media, he also passed the buck back to his uncle, Pashupati Paras, saying forming a separate party was his own decision and, if he wants to come back to LJP, it is totally upon him.
He would be happy to welcome him back, Chirag Paswan added. He further said that Chacha ji (Pashupati Paras) has always backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies and had promised to be loyal to the NDA, we would be happy to seek his blessings.
On the other side, a day ago, Pashpati Paras resigned from the Cabinet minister's post and ended his alliance with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He made the announcement during a press conference, adding that the BJP and the Prime Minister did not respect his efforts and decade-long loyalty. His party should have also got a respectable number of seats to contest the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, reports suggested that Pashupati Paras is now in touch with the Opposition's INDIA bloc and may join hands with them if offered some seats. Pashupati Paras is a sitting Member of Parliament from Hajipur and could dent BJP-LJP (R)'s vote bank.
