Lok Sabha Election 2024 Result: Congress-BJP Staring At Cliffhanger In Telangana
The face-off between BJP and Congress in Telangana is drawing everyone's attention. Both the parties are neck and neck in the southern state as counting for the Lok Sabha elections is underway. The trends coming in from Telangana show the changing political dynamics with the PM Modi-led BJP ahead on nine out of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Meanwhile, the ruling Congress is leading on four.
Malkajgiri, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Secunderabad, Adilabad, Warangal, Mahabubnagar, Chevella, and Nagarkurnool are the seats where the saffron party is surging ahead. At the time of filing this report, Congress is leading in seven seats, while BJP is ahead in eight. Meanwhile, BRS and AIMIM have one each seat in their kitties.
BJP candidates G Kishan reddy, Eatala Rajender, Godam Nagesh, Bandi Sanjay, DK Aruna, D Aravind, P Bharat, and Konda Vishweshwar Reddy have all maintained clear leads over their nearest rivals.

On the other hand, Congress candidates are ahead in Zahirabad, Nalgonga, Peddapalli, Bhongir, Khammam, Warangal, and Mahabubabad. Suresh Shetkar, K Raghuveer Reddy, G Vamshi Krishna, R Raghuram Reddy, A Ramesh, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, and P Balram Naik are leading the race for Congress.
Meanwhile, Chandrasekhar Rao's BRS is ahead in Medak, and AIMIM comfortably looks to retain its bastion of Hyderabad.
One of the hotly contested seats in the state has been the capital Hyderabad - AIMIM's impenetrable fort for the past 40 years. However, things took an interesting turn when BJP announced K Madhavi Latha's name as its candidate from the seat. Madhavi led campaign for the saffron party and exuded confidence of overthrowing Owaisi. Interestingly, Madhavi was leading the battle when the initial trends came in, however, Owaisi overtook her some time later.
BRS has been going through crisis after crisis ever since the lost the 2023 Assembly polls. Quite a few of its leaders have shifted loyalties too. One more loss like this would be devastating for Chandrasekhar Rao's party which ruled has the state for a decade.
During campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls, both Congress and BJP sidelined the BRS and called it irrelevant. Meanwhile, BRS played the regional card and claimed that it was only party that cared about the welfare of the state, while BJP and Congress have their agendas set in New Delhi.
The margins of votes over the nearest candidates for one BJP and three Congress candidates has already crossed one lakh already.
