Lok Sabha Election 2024: 5th Phase Polling Schedule And Key Details Announced By EC

With political parties across the spectrum already in campaign mode, the Election Commission (EC) announced the dates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls on Saturday.

In a press briefing in the national capital, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar stated that polling for Lok Sabha seats would be conducted from April 19 to June 1 across seven phases, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 4.

Sharing details of the poll schedule, the CEC mentioned that voting in the fifth phase would be held across 49 constituencies in eight states and one Union Territory on May 20.

The states set to witness polling in the fifth phase include Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Maharashtra, along with the Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir. UP, West Bengal, and Bihar will see polling across all seven phases, the CEC informed.

The Election Commission stated that there are approximately 1.82 crore voters aged between 18 and 19 years, and about 19.74 crore voters aged between 20 and 29 years. The EC also announced that approximately 96.88 crore registered voters will participate in the upcoming general elections, with approximately 47.15 crore of them being women.
