Lok Sabha 2024: Opposition Parties To Meet On June 12th In Patna

Opposition parties have scheduled a crucial meeting in Patna, the capital city of Bihar, on 12 June to strategize for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Reports indicate that around 18 leaders from various opposition parties are expected to participate in this conclave.

According to NDTV reports, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who has taken on the role of interlocutor for the BJP-Opposition engagement leading up to the significant 2024 elections, has decided on the meeting and its venue for the opposition party gathering.

CM Nitish Kumar, accompanied by his deputy chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, has been engaging with several opposition leaders, including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar, in an effort to consolidate opposition forces to counter the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This development comes as 20 opposition parties, including the Congress, Left, TMC, SP, and AAP, recently boycotted the inauguration of the new Parliament building by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They expressed their discontent, stating that they see no value in a new building when they believe the "soul of democracy has been sucked out."
