LoC infiltration bid foiled in Rajouri as Indian Army kills one militant

Indian Army troops foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, killing one militant during an encounter. Acting on intelligence in the Nowshera sector, forces recovered weapons, magazines, grenades, ammunition, mobile items and PKR cash. A search continues for a second suspect.

Army troops stopped an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in Rajouri district. Officials said one terrorist was killed during the exchange of fire. The operation also led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition and other items. This was the second such attempt that troops foiled in Rajouri within the past week.

Officials said the latest movement was spotted in the general area of Jhangar. It was in the Nowshera sector along the LoC. The Army’s White Knight Corps said the activity was detected around 3 pm. The troops then moved in and engaged the infiltrators to block any crossing.

Line of Control infiltration bid in Rajouri sector

The White Knight Corps said troops acted quickly and in a controlled manner. The Army said the infiltration plan was stopped during the encounter. It added that "In the ensuing exchange of fire, a Pakistan-sponsored terrorist was eliminated, effectively preventing any breach of the LoC,\" during the operation in the area.

After the firing stopped, troops began a search to find the second terrorist. Officials said the second person was believed to be hiding nearby. The search operation continued in and around the area. Security teams worked to prevent any escape routes across difficult terrain.

Line of Control search operation and recoveries

Officials said the troops recovered one AK-type rifle and two pistols. They also found two rifle magazines and four pistol magazines. The seized ammunition included 58 rounds. The recovery also included three hand grenades, one mobile set, two SIM cards and Pakistan currency.

The Army said surveillance was increased across the sector after the encounter. Officials said security forces strengthened their operational posture in the area. The monitoring used both ground assets and aerial support. The aim was to maintain control and ensure the area was fully dominated.

Line of Control action praised by Northern Command

Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma praised the troops of the White Knight Corps. The commander commended the unit for stopping the infiltration attempt. Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma also noted the elimination of the terrorist along the LoC. \"Northern Command stands by its commitment to keep Jammu and Kashmir terror-free,\" Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma wrote on X.

Officials also referred to a similar incident earlier in the month. On March 4, the Army stopped another infiltration attempt along the LoC. That incident happened in the Turkandi forward area, officials said. The latest operation in Rajouri added to the series of actions taken in the sector.
