The Ayodhya Police have initiated legal steps to conduct DNA tests in relation to the gang-rape of a 12-year-old girl, allegedly involving a Samajwadi Party leader and his employee. The minor, who is pregnant, has been receiving treatment at Queen Mary Hospital, part of King George Medical College (KGMC) in Lucknow since Monday.

Ayodhya Rape Case: DNA Tests Begin

Consent for Abortion

The victim's family has agreed to an abortion. Sarvesh Awasthi, President of the Ayodhya Child Welfare Committee, confirmed, "We have received the consent from the victim's family for abortion, and further action will be taken by the doctors treating the victim."

A senior police officer from Ayodhya stated that DNA tests on the accused, the victim, and the fetus will be conducted to build a case against the two men. "The legal process necessary for the DNA test has been started. It is a legal requirement in any such type of case," said Kumar.

Arrests and Investigation

On July 30, Ayodhya Police arrested Moid Khan, who owns a bakery in Bhadarsa Nagar of Purakalandar Police Station area, along with his employee Raju Khan. They are accused of raping the minor two months ago and recording the act. The incident came to light when a medical check-up revealed the girl's pregnancy.

KGMC Spokesperson Dr Sudhir Singh reported that the girl's condition is stable and she is being monitored by a team of doctors. The family’s consent for abortion has been obtained, and doctors will proceed accordingly.

Demolition of Illegal Structure

On August 3, Ayodhya district administration demolished Khan's bakery. District Magistrate Chandra Vijay Singh stated that it was illegally constructed over a pond. This action followed the arrest of Moid Khan and his employee Raju Khan in connection with the rape case.

The legal proceedings for DNA testing are crucial for substantiating charges against the accused. The police are ensuring all necessary steps are taken to support their case.
